Heather is a Senior Associate in the Insurance, Financial Professional Disputes team, based in the Manchester office since joining the firm in 2021.

Heather specialises in defending professional negligence claims on behalf of a wide variety of professionals, including solicitors, barristers, surveyors and construction professionals.  She also has experience in defending product liability claims for retail clients.

Experience

• Representing a firm of solicitors in defence of a litigated claim alleging negligent conduct of underlying litigation relating to alleged misrepresentations by investors in the claimants’ company.
• Representing a firm of solicitors in defence of a litigated claim alleging negligent advice during underlying adjudication proceedings relating to a construction contract dispute.
• Representing a firm of solicitors in defence of a claim by executors of an estate in relation to advice given during the settlement of a wills dispute.
• Representing a firm of solicitors in defence of a claim by a lending bank relating to a back to back scheme of acquiring properties at an undervalue and refinancing.
• Representing structural engineers in multi-party litigation relating to the design of foundations for a retail park and the subsequent remedial scheme following subsidence to the car park, settled at mediation.
• Acting for chartered surveyors in multi-party litigation in relation to the design and implementation of an underpinning scheme to remedy subsidence/heave due to neighbouring trees/their removal, settled at mediation.
• Acting for an architect in relation to the design and supervision of the construction of retaining and gabion walls, settled at mediation.
• Acting for monitoring surveyors in respect of a multi-million pound claim by investors in four wind turbine developments.
• Acting for monitoring surveyors in respect of a claim by investors in four wind turbine developments.
• Acting on behalf of large retailers in defending claims/Part 20 claims for property damage arising from alleged defective products and/or negligent installation, often involving fire/engineering experts.
