Ioanna has been part of the London Marine Assets and Projects Group since 2016. Ioanna is involved in all non-contentious aspects of marine projects, including LNG projects, ship sale and purchase, ship financing, including sale and leaseback arrangements, and wider corporate matters (such as company structures, re-structuring and joint ventures). Ioanna predominantly acts for owners and operators and her practice covers matters such as shipbuilding and conversion contracts, charter parties (long and short-term charters), sale and leaseback structures, flagging and vessel registration arrangements and carrying out marine related due diligence for corporate acquisitions.

Ioanna is a dual-qualified lawyer (Solicitor in England & Wales and Greek lawyer). She holds an LL.M. in International Commercial Law with specialisation in Shipping Law from City University of London and an LL.B. from National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece).

Ioanna is an active member of Clyde & Co’s decarbonisation initiative and has written articles on the Poseidon Principles.

Ioanna is fluent in both English and Greek.

Experience
  • Acting for an international group of companies in relation to the financing and acquisition of a vessel fleet, negotiating a time charterparty, advising on commercial agreements and vessel services agreements.
  • Acting for a shipowning company in relation to the financing and acquisition of 42 vessels, their back to back purchase from a major liner operator and charter to an associated chartering company of the operator in a sale and leaseback structure.
  • Acting for a shipowning group in relation to the pre and post-delivery financing of a vessel fleet on the basis of a sale and leaseback arrangement with a Chinese leasing bank, with a back to back bareboat charter and sub-bareboat charter structure.
  • Acting for the FSRU provider in relation to the negotiation of a long-term time charter, advising on the operation and maintenance agreement and the commissioning time charter.
  • Acting for a leading power, energy, gas and infrastructure conglomerate based in South Africa in relation to the financing and acquisition of two new build LPG Carrier vessels.
  • Advising an international group of companies on the restructuring and re-financing of a high value bond agreement, a vessel fleet acquisition and conducting vessel registration.
  • Acting for the shipbuilder in relation to the construction of superyachts.
