Emma Turton is an Associate in the London office with experience of advising on both contentious and non-contentious domestic and international projects and construction matters.

Emma is an Associate in the global Projects & Construction team with experience in both contentious and non-contentious PPP/PFI projects and construction matters. Emma acts for a range of clients including project consortia, service providers, funders, employers, developers and contractors.

Emma’s non-contentious experience includes advising on the ongoing management of the operational aspects of UK PPP and PFI projects, including extensions to project facilities, changes to the provision of services, and interfaces with multiple stakeholders. She also acts for developers, drafting and negotiating various contractual documents with contractors, sub-contractors, and consultants and managing professional team appointments.

On the contentious side, Emma has acted for parties using a range of dispute resolution methods, including High Court litigation and arbitration, as well as advising on a number of pre-action fire safety defects disputes.

Emma has also acted on matters involving UK regulatory issues, international sanctions, energy and carbon credit trading, and climate change

Experience
  • Advising various project companies on operational variations to UK hospitals and schools PFI projects. Experience includes drafting deeds of variation and all requisite ancillary documentation.
  • Advising contractors in relation to cladding and fire safety issues across UK developments. Experience includes drafting letters before action, case analysis and research.
  • Advising UK developers on building contracts and professional team appointments for commercial developments.
  • Advising an ESCo owned by a construction company and developer on the negotiation of key commercial principles in Heads of Terms and drafting key contracts including the Concession Agreement and standard form supply contracts for commercial and residential customers for a new district heating system in Milton Keynes.
