Full Profile

Jennifer is an Associate in the Manchester office within the Employment, Pensions and Immigration Team, providing advice on a broad spectrum of employment issues spanning the public and private sector.

Jennifer recognises the importance of developing an understanding of the core values of her client's business in order to deliver practical and comprehensive guidance, empowering clients to deal with matters confidently and within their budget.

Jennifer specialises in providing advice on a wide range of employment and HR matters, including Disciplinary, Grievance and Capability procedures; Equality Act issues; Whistleblowing; Redundancy; TUPE and employee exit strategies.  Jennifer routinely represents clients through the Pre-Claim Conciliation and Tribunal process and has extensive advocacy experience with the Tribunal and Court setting.

Jennifer also specialises in employment disputes within the Healthcare Sector, working with our Healthcare Team to provide advice and representation to medical professionals.

Experience

HEALTHCARE

Jennifer acts on behalf of private medical malpractice insurers to represent doctors in a range of professional and regulatory investigations.  Jennifer works closely with our Healthcare Team to provide representation in workplace disputes both within the public and private sector, including disciplinary, grievance and MHPS investigations.  Recent client feedback includes:

"At all points Jennifer was unfailingly honest, reassuring and most importantly kind and "human".  She mixed professionalism with good humour whenever needed and judged the situation perfectly.  There really aren't the adequate words to express my gratitude to her and this would have been the case irrespective of the eventual outcome."

EMPLOYMENT PENSIONS AND IMMIGRATION

(Dispute Resolution; Industrial Relations; Employment & Advisory)

Jennifer has previously been seconded to work 'in house', providing HR and legal support to an organisation with over 500 employees. This included advising and overseeing a redundancy and restructuring process, advising the Board of Management and delivering briefings to HR, management and Staff Association Representatives before commencing a collective consultation process.  The absence of any ensuing employment tribunal claims is testimony to the careful planning, briefings and ongoing staff engagement inherent at each stage of the process.

Having previously worked as an advocate for the Crown Prosecution Service, Jennifer has considerable advocacy experience, and has represented clients in a range of hearings, from preliminary and final hearings to Judicial Mediation.   Recently, Jennifer has advised a client on a whistleblowing claim valued at £370,000.00, including significant pension losses.  Jennifer represented her client at Judicial Mediation so as to obtain a favourable settlement, saving the considerable legal fees which would have otherwise been incurred in a 20 day Final Hearing.

Jennifer also routinely presents seminars and provides in-house training to clients on a range of employment law issues.
